If you’re feeling stuck, bored and passionless, maybe it’s time for some travel adventures?
I was talking to someone the other day who said he was so fed up with his life and that he was really longing for some travel adventures. I did see his point.

When you’re on the road, travel adventures inevitable wake you up and keep you alert. Like when we passed this sign
Today, most people live in ways which are, to a very big extent, planned. When the alarm sets off in the morning, you know pretty well what will happen throughout the day. You’ll have your breakfast (I assume most of you who read this don’t have to worry about if there’s going to be any breakfast), off to work and the kids to school…You also have a pretty good idea of what the day at work, or school, will look like. Then, back home again where you might have some planned activities, then maybe some TV or a movie or some time in front of the computer and off to bed again. Up the next day and run the program over again, and again, and again….
I do believe it’s important to remember to be grateful. Grateful for having things like a safe home, food on the table, and an income as well as a good health and people who love and appreciate us.
Nevertheless, to many, there’s still something missing. In the midst of your well known, successful (whatever you say, I’m sure you’re successful in many ways) and abundant life, a feeling of emptiness sometimes pops up. Or feelings of boredom, restlessness, unhappiness or maybe of not being fully alive. What’s often missing in your well planned perfectly scheduled life, I believe, is a touch of the unknown and the unplanned, of adventure!

Or entered into "sunny" California in this kind of weather

Or when the road, in the middle of nowhere, suddenly ended
What we’ve more and more subtracted from our lives, are opportunities to experience the unknown, situations where we neither know what to expect nor how to act, situations where we really have to access all of our capabilities, assemble our strengths and creativity, and see what we really go for. That’s when you really feel like you are living.
Think about being in an unfamiliar situation in a new place where you don’t know what to expect, how to act or what to do. How does this feel? A bit scary maybe but also, doesn’t your heart beat a bit quicker? Isn’t there a feeling of excitement or anticipation that you usually don’t experience during your day at work?
That’s part of why we, and so many others, love to travel. And especially on independent long term travel adventures.
When you’re out in the world for an extended period, visiting unknown places, and meeting with new people in unfamiliar surroundings, unexpected things inevitable turn up. Things which you neither choose nor desire but which will give you the opportunity to really be in the present and feel alive. These are the things which you’ll be certain to remember when you get back home.

Finding a python on the road can make a day exciting (even if it’s dead)

Not to mention, finding Tiger claw marks along the way when you’re out hiking in India

Or meeting with these huge guys
We’ve experienced them ourselves, over and over again, those small, or big, unplanned situations that we’d rather avoid but which we, somehow, always manage to take us out of and which then becomes some of the best memories from our trips (not to mention a great story to tell).
I would like to quote someone here. Jeffrey Kottler and for you who have followed us for a while, you probably understand by now that his book “Travel that can change your life” is one of my absolute favorite “travel” books.
“On one hand, we hunger for new challenges, that will test our resolve, on the other, we feel perfectly miserable when subjected to the usual hardship that accompany adventures. These ambivalent feelings are, in fact, the best indicators that we are smack in the middle of an adventure. It is when you say to yourself, as Thornton Wilder did in The Matchmaker “Oh, now I’ve got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home”. Of course, Wilder continues, you know you are really in trouble “when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventures.”
So, if this is you, sitting quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventures, don’t hesitate one more moment, do something about it! And what we suggest if of course GO DO SOME SERIOUS TRAVELING!

Wow.. that is a cute idea! I reminds me of the roaming gnome someone took all over the country, and kept sending photos back to the home they “borrowed” it from (they eventually brought back the gnome)
Amazing photographs I like them all in fact I just love to travel thanks for sharing this wonderful post with us.
If only I do have the budget and the free time. I will be traveling all over the world. :|

There is no free time in life. You just have to manage your time, plan accordingly and get set go.
Best pictures I have seen in a long time, quite funny in fact. A good read for my dull English lunch time. Many thanks.
Wow – these images are really inspiring – the tiger claw marks are impressive – scary though!

Travel adventures are the best way refresh our mind.
For some people, one of the ways to enjoy life is by traveling around the world. Visiting new places and meet new people, will be a give you a lot of new experience in your life. it is also one of the way for you to open your mind and see what exactly happen in the other part of the world by live. Those kind of experience is not very easy to get if you are don’t like to traveling.
I’ve been traveling for about a year now and am about to head home. It is an adventure traveling and its a lot of fun as well but it is very tiring…I’m really looking forward to just living in one place for a while instead of hopping from one hostel to the next…

This is an awesome website, it really had a great deal of informaion on the subject.
Yes! What you are saying is that it does not take an exotic holiday or even extended travel to another country to generate some spice in your life. It takes an adventurist spirit and the will to make every day count. Oh I wish I could listen to my own words of wisdom. Sometimes, however, the drill of life is more difficult to break than some imagine. If we could just recognize this in others the boredom, the sense of stuck will lift and your journey continues.
Yes Lucy, if only all of us just could listen to our own advice :) We often knows what is best for us but to often don’t listen. To break the drill of life in what ever way suites you will give you experiences that will make you feel alive and vibrant. And for this we believe traveling to be perfect.
Traveling is definitely a great way to add a bit of spice to your life, especially if you’re willing to go somewhere out of your comfort zone. I was in India recently and it was a real eye opener for me, made me realize how good things are in the US!

Hope you had a great time in India, even if it was a bit outside of your comfortzone (or maybe just because:))
Talking about India, it reminded me about when we were there for the first time. Everybody had told us to be prepared for this culture chock and we were. And, of course, India is – different. We loved it though and the real big culture chock for us was actually when we got back home to Sweden! Empty streets, quiet, cold, everybody dressed in black, grey and brown…….. Interesting!
Hey Maria, your right, India is so different. No matter how many people you talk to or books you read i don’t think you can really prepare yourself to seeing how different it is. We traveled a lot on the buses and in many cases they didn’t stop in 10 hours (which is a short time in India) – if you needed to use a bathroom you just had to wait. All these things added up to a great experience.
