Welcome

We are the one’s who believe that you can quit your job and travel the world – that Extended World Travel is totally a possibility for you too!

We are a Swedish family of 5 who, thanks to some decisions we’ve made and the traveling we’ve done are very much living our dream life. We can work and study from wherever we are. We experience loads of interesting and exciting things together. We have friends all over the world and we very much feel and see ourselves not only as Swedes, but as World Citizens.

If you want to travel the world but don’t know how it could be possible, start by believing it can!

You’ve probably heard it: “when I’ll see it I’ll believe it”. As we see it, it’s actually the other way around. You start by believing in something and it will, sooner or later, become a reality.

Start fantasizing about your trip!

Start fantasizing about your trip!

So if you have a desire to travel the world, try not to get stuck into all the reasons why it’s not possible, instead play with the idea that it is. Dream about it, see in your head that you’re already there; look at the scenery, listen to the sounds, see if you can even smell something special that you connect with your trip, the ocean, some food, a flower…

Also, talk about your trip. Not with people who’ll discourage you and say things like you’re unrealistic and irresponsible (you probably know them), but with people who will travel with you or talk to other world travelers. And don’t forget to dream a bit about what you’ll bring back home after you’ve been gone to travel the world. What would you like to have learned? What would you love to see has changed when you come back as a “new” person?

Many times when we have traveled, or rather before we have gone away, we haven’t had a clue how to sort everything out and make the trip possible but we have had this picture in our minds. Not exactly the same of course since there are 5 of us, but something similar. We have then talked about it, made the picture clearer, dreamt about it and, at one point, we have been ready to take de decision to go for it.

Things have then started to fall into places. A house sitter has turned up who’ll stay in our home and take care of our cats, we have been invited to stay at someone’s house for free in the area where we’d want to go, we have managed to create all the necessary money to make it possible (even if we to start with had no idea how). There has always been a way.

There’s a very famous quote that we think is very suitable when talking about this. Most of you have probably read or heard it before (and we have it on our No Money page) but we think it describes this phenomenon so well and want to put it up here again.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, the providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe’s couplets: “Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!”

W. H. Murray in The Scottish Himalaya Expedition (quoting John Anster who in turn paraphrased Goethe’s Faust in the final two sentences of the preceding quote from Murray).
